CliF Lab

The Clinical Forensic Psychology (CliF) Lab at IUP examines Clinical Psychology issues within the legal system. Research from the CliF Lab has two overarching objectives:

 

  • Improve clinical practices in forensic settings.

 

  • Inform effective, just policy on forensic mental health issues.

Current Projects

Factors in Forensic Clinician Decision-Making 

Collaborators: Jen Perillo, Daniel Murrie

 

Focus: Factors contributing to forensic clinician decision-making, including adversarial allegiance (the tendency for experts' opinions to favor the side retaining them) and other forms of expert bias

Person-First Language in Forensic Mental Health 

Collaborators: Casey Boland, Jen Perillo

 

Focus: Ways person-first language (e.g., "person who sexually abused") impact attitudes toward justice-involved persons and criminal justice-relevant policies.

Perceptions of Responsibility in Sexual Assault Allegations 

Collaborators: Adrie Henry, Cristina Reitz-Krueger, Jen Perillo

 

Focus: Factors impacting perceptions surrounding sexual assault allegations (primarily campus sexual assault).
